Distance: 60 miles and 2900 feet of elevation gain (barometric)
The long and medium routes are somewhat similar although using different routes much of the time. They both head over to the Valley near the eastern end and then travel west through the Valley to lunch before returning to the start. This long starts by climbing Nichols Canyon up to the top. We follow Woodrow Wilson over to Cahuenga where we join the medium. Together the two routes descend into the Burbank area and then ride west through the Valley to lunch near Victory & Platt. (This is the long gentle grade on the profile.) After lunch, this long leaves the medium to climb Old Topanga and descends to PCH on New Topanga. A trip through Santa Monica and back to the start completes the day. As you can see, there are only the two major climbs: the main one up Nichols (although the steepest part of this climb is on Woodrow Wilson) and a shorter one on Old Topanga.
