The DEAD OF WINTER Double is a 200 mile ride on popular established routes: Lowland and Highland Doubles of the Los Angeles Wheelmen’s GRAND TOUR. The Dead of Winter Double will follow the Grand Tour Lowland Route from Port Hueneme Holiday Inn Express to Ojai with a section added to make the double century mileage total, then continues on the Grand Tour Highland Route past Lake Casitas to the coast before a return back to the Port Hueneme Holiday Inn Express.
The Dead of Winter Double was held for the first time on November 30 and December 1, 2013, with a limited number of riders, just 75 each day. The Dead of Winter Double will be held December 4/5, 2021. Reservations are required!
Difficulty Rating: Medium
It is intended to be a last chance, low-cost double (Double Century $50, $75 for the Double Double option). Support will consist of water and Hammer Nutrition products only at all rest stops, with roving SAG for the duration. A 75 rider limit is necessary to keep the costs down, so a strict reservation policy will be observed.
This ride is produced by the Los Angeles Wheelmen. Questions, please call Kermit Ganier at (310) 367-0458 (first choice), or if you must, text.
