Distance: 36 miles and 600 feet of elevation gain (barometric)
This Flat short starts out by first making a loop to the south before returning into Whittier. Then, instead of going over Turnbull like all the other routes, it skirts around the hill by a fairly flat route to join the Hilly Short on the other side. Together the two shorts then make a very flat loop taking them north through West Covina, Baldwin Park and Temple City where they stop for lunch. Then it is back south to the start using the Rio Hondo bike trail back to the Whittier Narrows area. On the map, the green indicates the portion unique to this Flat Short and the pink indicates the portion in common with the Hilly Short. Although it may appear hilly on the profile, note that the biggest climb (up into Whittier) is only about 200 feet.
