Byways of Palos Verdes (Medium)

Distance: 60 miles and 2200 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

We start by riding south through the beach communities down to Palos Verdes. This varies from some other similar rides because it does not use the beach bike path at all. Once there, this medium stays with the long through it’s first climb to the top of the peninsula. While the long continues around the peninsula and does two more climbs, this medium goes directly to lunch where the long riders will eventually show up. The trip back to the start follows the long route and uses a slightly different route from the trip down, but still runs close to the coast. Near the end of the route, the course rides the relatively new bike path parallel to the Expo Line. This is our only regular ride to use this path. As you can see by the profile, the single climb tops out near 1000 feet above sea level, so it is not extremely long.
