Canyon Lakes (Short)

Distance: 40 miles and 2100 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

We start the day with the long and medium riders by heading up Bouquet Canyon. However, once we reach the top and the reservoir, we stop to take in the view and then simply return back down the way we came. Once we are back down in Valencia, we stop for lunch and then make a quick return to the start. This route is a bit longer and has more climbing than our usual short routes, but, rather than give short riders an easy but boring ride around the Valencia area, I wanted to give them a chance to take in the beauty of Bouquet Canyon. It’s not all that steep, but it is a long climb. If you have never ridden long extended climbs, this is a perfect chance to test your legs on this type of climb because if it does prove to be too much, you can always turn around and coast back down to Valencia and lunch. It’s an up and back route anyway, so why not come out and see what you can do.
