Malibu Vistas (Medium)

Distance: 51 miles and 5300 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

This medium and the long routes are the same to lunch. They start by heading up the coast to Latigo Cyn and climbing the twin peaks of that canyon. They then work their way west (doing a bit more climbing along the way) to the big downhill on Mulholland Hwy which takes you back down to the coast and a short hop over to Neptune’s Net for lunch. After lunch, the two routes split. While the long does an extra major climb, this medium heads back to the start using a coastal route. This return stays off PCH as much as possible by riding roads parallel to PCH. This involves a little more climbing than staying on PCH including a short but steep climb which goes around Zuma hill. Although this medium does not include the 2nd big climb ridden by the long route, this is still a very hilly route with an average of about 100 feet of elevation gain per mile.
