Distance: 58 miles and 1800 feet of elevation gain (barometric)
All routes are the same for the first 16 miles down to Manhattan Beach. This is a fairly direct route over to Culver City where you pick up the Ballona Creek trail to the beach and follow the beach bike path to Manhattan. The long and this medium continue the bike path all the way down to Redondo and Palos Verdes where they both ride Palos Verdes Drive around to Golden Cove. While the long begins its trip up and over the peninsula, this medium stops at Golden Cove for lunch or a break. After the break, this medium then returns back the way it came. You return to Manhattan Beach and the races. After watching the races, you rejoin the short and long routes on the trip back to the “Corner.” This pretty much retraces your route down, with a few variations. As you can see by the profile, the only significant climbing is in Palos Verdes in the middle of the route, but this is somewhat less than the long does.
