Distance: 36 miles and 600 feet of elevation gain (mapping software)
This short stays with the other routes for only the first mile. It then does a fairly flat tour of Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Newport Beach. It starts by heading over to the Santa Ana River trail and taking that all the way to the coast. Then it is south along the coast to Newport Beach and inland around the back bay area. It then makes its way across Irvine back to the start. The route never gets above 200 feet above sea level and the only hills are in the Newport Beach/Back Bay area (the bumps at about 20 -25 mile mark on the profile.
