Circling San Fernando – Metric Century

Distance: 68 miles and 4000 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

We start by heading up Sepulveda to Mulholland Drive (the initial climb on the profile) which we take east all the way across to Cahuenga. Then it’s down into the Valley to begin our circle. We ride through Burbank and north out Glenoaks and Foothill Blvd to the northeast corner of the valley. This is a long gradual climb ending at the peak at around 37 miles on the profile. Then it is west across the valley. Along Rinaldi St in Porter Ranch, this metric century stops for lunch and then parts ways with the full century. After lunch the route simply proceeds south across the Valley and back over Sepulveda (the final climb on the profile) and back to the start. As you can see on the profile, the biggest single climb is the initial climb up Sepulveda. There is a lot more climbing after the initial trip up Sepulveda, but none of it is very difficult. This metric stays with the full century for the first 43 miles, so you do not have to decide which route you want to complete until well into the ride.
