Turnbull Revisited (Medium)

Distance: 52 miles and 2300 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

The long and the medium are identical today except for a ride up San Gabriel Canyon and back down tacked on to the long. Both routes start by heading into Whittier and climbing over Turnbull Canyon (the first spike on the profile). Together they continue east and north through Hacienda Heights and Walnut and then go up and over Grand Ave (the small spike at about 25 miles on the profile). After lunch in the Covina area, both routes head north to Azusa and the northern end of the San Gabriel River Bike Trail. Here the long splits off for its trip up San Gabriel Canyon. This medium simply gets on the San Gabriel River Trail south and takes it all the way back to the start. This includes a trip over the Santa Fe Dam. On the profile, the climbs over Turnbull and Grand are the only significant climbs of the day.
