Action in Acton (Medium)

Distance: 35 miles and 3600 feet of elevation gain (mapping software)

All three routes today stay together for the first 7 miles and all come back together for the last 10 miles. They all start by taking Sierra Hwy over to Soledad Canyon Road and begin heading east. The short soon turns off, but the long and medium continue to Agua Dulce where this medium splits off. While the long does a loop to Acton, this medium cuts across on Agua Dulce Cyn Rd to rejoin the long route near the town of Agua Dulce and Vasquez Rocks. There is a possible lunch stop on Sierra Hwy with the long riders. A short, but somewhat steep, climb over Sand Canyon takes us to Placerita Canyon for a pleasant 5 mile ride along that road before a short hop on Sierra Hwy takes us back to the start. The total elevation gain on this medium is almost the same as the long because there is some significant climbing along the cut-off on Agua Dulce Cyn Rd. On the map, the red indicates the portion of the route in common with the long route and the blue indicates the cut-off portion of the medium route.
