Wandering To Whittier (Short)

Distance: 35 miles and 1100 feet of elevation gain (mapping software)

All four routes today stay together for at least the first 10 miles as they head north up to Sierra Madre (the peak on the profile). This is a long gentle grade. After Sierra Madre, this short route is significantly different than the other routes. Instead of heading south down to Whittier, it continues east through Bradbury and Duarte. Here it picks up the San Garbiel River trail which it rides south around the Santa Fe Dam. It then heads back west toward the start, rejoining the other routes for the final 9 miles. On the map, the blue portion is the common route with the other routes and the pink portion is the loop to the east done by this short route. This short actually has a tiny bit more climbing than the shorter medium route, but the only significant climb is the initial grade up to Sierra Madre which all routes do.
