Mount Baldy Village Trainer

Distance: 58/68 miles and 6100/8100 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

We start the day by heading up Hwy 39 past the two reservoirs. We then take East Fork to Glendora Mountain Road. The climbing has been fairly moderate to this point, but starts in earnest as we climb the 5 miles up Glendora Mountain Road to where it intersects Glendora Ridge Road. The climbing continues along the Ridge Road all the way to Baldy Village, but is interspersed with short downhill sections. After lunch in the village, we return back the way we came on the Ridge Road, but when we get to Glendora Mountain Road we continue straight into that road (rather than backtracking down to East Fork) This is a 9 mile stretch of almost continuous downhill and is worth all the effort to get there. A final stretch along Sierra Madre gets us back to the start. From Baldy Village, you have the option to continue Baldy Rd all the way up to the ski lift and back. This is NOT shown on the map below or on the profile, but it is shown on the map and profile accompanying the Baldy Road Challenge route.  As you can see by the profile, the route is mostly up in the first half and mostly down on the return.
