Potrero

Distance: 94 miles and 6000 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

From Brentwood we start with the long run north along PCH all the way to the edge of Camarillo. We then head directly over to the principal climb of the day – Potrero. This climb is really in three parts, but it is only the middle part which is extremely steep for a distance of a little less than a mile. The top of the third section takes us to the highest point on the route at about 1300 feet above sea level. This is lower than many of the peaks we have done in previous weeks, but the climbing is more difficult. After topping out on the Potrero climb, we continue through Hidden Valley and past Lake Sherwood before riding through Westlake Village. We continue east to Agoura where we stop for lunch. The return after lunch is fairly standard. We continue east along Agoura Road, ride up Mureau Road (the climb at about mile 70 on the profile below) to Calabasas and the west Valley. We cross the Valley using the standard Wells Drive medley of streets and complete the day by riding over Sepulveda (the final peak on the profile) back to the start. Although there is only one major climb, the distance on this route is longer than most past trainers and the total gain is a bit more than most past trainers.
