Three Hills Trainer (both routes)

Distance: 75/55 miles and 7700/5400 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

Both routes are essentially the same, so there is only one route sheet and one map. We start the day by immediately heading into Griffith Park for the first hill (the peak at mile 7 on the profile). We take some back roads up to the top of the Park and then down to Zoo Drive. We then head over to the Glendale area for our second hill (the peak at mile 19)  This is very steep, but you have the option of taking the more moderate Chevy Chase up to the top. From the top of Chevy Chase, it is a short hop over to our final climb – Mount Wilson (the big peak on the profile). Obviously the third “hill” is quite a bit higher than the first two, but the trip up is mostly a relatively moderate gradient. After lunch at Cosmic Café at the top, it is mostly downhill all the way back to the start. The difference between the long and medium routes is only that the medium just goes as far as Clear Creek on the trip up to Wilson.  Clear Creek is at the slight notch at mile 32 on the profile below. The medium turns around at that point and goes back down.
