Distance: 73 miles and 4800 feet of elevation gain (barometric)
Like we do for many of our trainers, we start by heading out north on PCH. Today we only go as far as Encinal Canyon (a little past Trancas) and turn inland for the main climb of the day. About 5 miles takes us to the top (the main climb on the profile below). Then we ride along Mulholland and take the fast downhill into Westlake on Westlake Blvd. Then it is east along the 101 Freeway, stopping for lunch in Agoura. A moderate climb up Mureau Rd (the little peak at mile 50) takes us into the San Fernando Valley. Then it’s the well known Wells Drive Medley across the Valley before our final climb of the day back over Sepulveda to the finish (the peak at mile 65). On the profile below, you can see that the Encinal climb is by far the principal climb of the day. So the bulk of the climbing is near the beginning of the ride while you are still fresh.
