Bronson Caves (Medium)

Distance: 26 miles and 1600 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

All three routes go to the caves. While the short goes directly there and back, the long and the medium add on a few extra places to see. This medium skips the trip up to Mulholland made by the long riders, and instead heads directly over to Cahuenga where it rejoins the long. Together they take in Lake Hollywood. There is a short but steep climb to get to the lake and after completely circling the lake, there is another short but very steep climb back out (the peak at mile 12.5 on the profile below). After the lake, it’s on to the caves. After viewing the caves, we ride over to Griffith Park. Here the long and medium split again. While the long makes a trip up to the Observatory, this medium stops for lunch at the entrance to the park. After lunch, it is a direct return to the start. At only 26 miles you shouldn’t let the two steep hills near the lake scare you off. They are short and if comes down to it – they are walkable.
