Distance: 55 miles and 4900 feet of elevation gain (mapping software)
Both routes are the same through the first hill. We start by immediately heading into Griffith Park for the first hill (the peak at mile 7 on the profile). We take some back roads up to the top of the Park and then down to Zoo Drive. We then head over to the Glendale area where the two routes split. On this route, the second hill (the peak at mile 20) is Chevy Chase Dr. The two routes come back together near the top of Chevy Chase. From the top of Chevy Chase, it is a short hop over to our final climb – Mount Wilson (the big peak on the profile). Obviously the third “hill” is quite a bit higher than the first two, but the trip up is mostly a relatively moderate gradient. This lite version only goes up as far as Clear Creek, while the full version goes much higher. After a break at Clear Creek, it is mostly downhill all the way back to the start.
