Exploring the Environs (Medium)

Distance: 51 miles and 2800 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

The long and medium are similar, in that they both head over to the Valley, head west across the Valley to lunch and then go over Topanga Canyon to the coast and return to the start via Santa Monica.  However they each accomplish these things using different routes. This medium gets to the Valley by climbing over Sepulveda (easier than the Long route). It heads west across the Valley using a somewhat hilly course, but not as hilly as the long route. It has lunch on Topanga Blvd and then takes New Topanga to get to the coast. Once on the coast, the return to the start is the same as the long. Although this medium is only a few miles shorter than the long, it is less hilly with almost a thousand feet less climbing than the long.
