Distance: 64 miles and 800 feet of elevation gain (mapping software)
This metric version of the full century stays with the full century for the first 28 miles. This is a fairly flat as we work our way south east down to Irvine. When this route splits off, it does a couple bike trails not ridden by the long which circles around the Irvine area. It then rejoins the century route near Alton & Jeffrey for lunch. The two routes stay together on the return after lunch. This includes a few more miles of bike trails before we head to the coast in Newport Beach and take PCH back to the start. This route cuts out most of the climbing of the full century. Note that the high point in the center of the profile below is less than 200 feet above sea level.
