Long Beach Boogie (Medium)

Distance: 54 miles and 1600 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

Today the long and the medium routes are the same for the first 13.4 miles and come back together shortly before lunch and then return on the same route after lunch. They start by riding over to the southern end of the Coyote Creek trail and then riding it to its northern end. Shortly after that, while the long splits off for an extra loop to the northeast, this medium route completes a smaller loop east through La Habra Heights and La Habra. This includes a ride along West Road and East Road (the main peak on the profile below). The medium rejoins the long route for lunch along Alondra Blvd. After lunch both routes pick up the San Gabriel River trail south to Seal Beach and make a brief tour around Long Beach before returning to the start. Although this medium does not do either of the two climbs on the long route, it does add a climb of its own over the top of East Road. On the map below, the red portion is the common route with the long and the blue portion is the section unique to this medium route.
