Yerba Buena (Inland Return)

Distance: 85 miles and 7000 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

Starting from Brentwood both options head north on PCH all the way to Neptune’s Net just past the LA/Ventura County line. You can take a break there, but don’t rush or it won’t be open yet. Then it’s the 8 mile climb up Yerba Buena and down to Mulholland Hwy. We ride east along Mulholland to our usual lunch stop near the Rock Store. After lunch we continue along Mulholland to Las Virgenes Rd. Here, the two routes split. This Inland Return continues on Mulholland Hwy all the way to the west end of the San Fernando Valley. Then it is simply the usual “Wells Drive Medley” of streets and turns taking us across the Valley and the usual return over Sepulveda back to the start. As you can see on the profile below, the climb up Yerba Buena is the only major climb of the day, but there are several other “bumps” along Mulholland. In addition, this option adds a second significant climb on Mulholland and the climb over Sepulveda. On the map below, the common route with both options is in red and the inland return portion is shown in blue.
