Dam Corner Century

Distance: 99 miles and 4400 feet of elevation gain (barometric)

We start at the Corner and first head to Monterey Park where the shorter Santa Fe Dam Ride starts. This takes us through Elysian Park where we do a brief climb to the look-out above Dodger Stadium (the little spike on the profile at about mile 10). Once we get to Monterey Park, we head over to the San Gabriel River and take that north to the Santa Fe Dam. After riding the crest of the dam, we continue a bit up-stream to Duarte and then begin a trip west through some of the foothill communities to Pasadena for lunch. After lunch, we do a short but somewhat steep climb to the top of Lake Avenue (the major spike at mile 65 on the profile below). Then we begin our return to the start which takes us through Burbank to Griffith Park and through the park before returning through the Silver Lake area and along 4th Street back to the Corner. Although there are a few up-grades and small hills, the two climbs mentioned above are the only major climbs of the day and 4400 feet of total climbing for a century is not a lot. There are a lot of turns on the route sheet and you will have to follow it carefully.
