If you’ve ever considered a bicycling event longer than 100 miles? Now’s the time to start. These are challenging and scenic rides that you’ll really enjoy!
The Los Angeles Wheelmen is sponsoring new Randonneuring events called "Brevets". This is non-competitive, organized endurance riding, where cycling skills and self-sufficiency are paramount! The first two were 200 km (126 miles) on January 12, 2008, and 300 km (185 miles) on February 2.
The next three events:
·
400 km (250 miles) April 19;
·
600 km (385 miles) May 17;
· 200 km (125 miles) June 28, in connection with the Grand Tour.

The sport of randonneuring traces its beginning to sport cycling in France and Italy. The French word randonnée loosely translates to “ramble” or “long journey.” Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark. Riders must complete the designated course, stopping at verifying control points, within specified time limits. This is not a race.
